Community-Led
Community-led engagement may start in the community itself or be supported by externally funded, and often trained individuals who work with particular communities in attempts to elicit their needs and help their articulation to institutions and organisations which are in a position to help meet them. This could be seen as ‘engagement from the other side’ with an end goal of some improvement in the life of the community. It is a common feature of much work by local NGOs in the international development sector and also of many campaigns for improved research and treatment by sufferers from specific health problems and their families in the UK.
