IMWG Annual Workshop

The 2009 annual workshop of the EADI Information Management Working Group takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 11-13 June at Danish Institute for International Studies. The theme for this year’s workshop is Evolving in a Changing Knowledge Climate.

The draft programme

11 June The morning with a short introduction to “Wikis, Blogs and Blips: How we will web 2.0 this workshop” run by Chris Addison. The idea is to give participants hands on experience of using these new tools during the workshop. If you wish to be one of the reporters using mobile phones for short interviews and/or blog during the workshop please volunteer to be a reporter, a mentor or shadow by signing up at the conference site.

There will also be an Open Space for Information professionals in Development to discuss burning issues or hot topics among the members. If you have issues or topics you would like to bring up please forward them to me already now. You can e-mail me at [2] or use the conference site.

The afternoon is devoted to a discussion among researchers, librarians and information professionals about “Globalizing development research: sharing experiences on how to communicate effectively in global research consortia and networks”. • Creative approaches to research communication including communication during projects, engaging stakeholders before, during and after a project. • New ways to making partnerships work better. • Collaborative working tools, sharing knowledge resources, power/culture issues

We will invite researchers to take part this afternoon so we can listen to then and get them to talk to us about there needs and how we can help and/or collaborate. Furthermore, we will present an update on un-going projects and new tools.

12 June The Open Space for Information professionals will continue and we will discuss ongoing EADI IMWG topics during the afternoon Business Meeting. This includes Open Access, EL@ND, Focuss, Euforic, ikmemergent, new conveners and next year's meeting.

Conference fee is 75 Euro and includes lunches, reception and dinner Thursday.
